Aerial Silks

Aerial silks also known as tissu or fabric is a challenging and beautiful art of dance in the air using the silks to wrap the body and flow with movement. In this all level class you will train in specialized aerial conditioning techniques using the Aerial Silks and will work on various poses, climbing techniques, and working towards aerial inversions with longer sequences and combinations.

SILKS: Intro / Level 1
 

This beginner level class is perfect for students who are learning and perfecting basic silks. This class includes strength and conditioning exercises while learning the fundamentals and base skills to work towards wraps, poses, and combos. Examples of what you might learn:

 

  • Climbing

  • Foot locks

  • Introduction to inverts

  • A short combo that combines multiple beginner elements together


PREREQS
 

None, this class is appropriate for first timers and beginners

SILKS: Level 2

This intermediate level class is perfect for students who are perfecting more difficult silks movements. This class includes strength and conditioning exercises while learning the fundamentals and base skills to work towards intermediate wraps, poses, and combos. Examples of what you might learn:
 

  • Split tissue climbs 

  • Hip key

  • Aerial inverts

  • A short combo that combines multiple intermediate elements together
     

PREREQS
 

  • Inverts from the ground

  • Climbing

  • Single and double foot locks

SILKS: Level 3

This advanced class focuses on advanced poses, trick sequences and combinations, as well as advanced conditioning and strengthening skills. There will be an emphasis on proper form and controlled technique. Examples of what you might learn:
 

  • Hip key climb

  • Drops

  • Ankle hangs

  • A combo that combines multiple advanced elements together


PREREQS
 

  • Aerial inverts

  • Aerial footlocks

  • Straddle back

  • Hip key

WHAT TO WEAR FOR ALL SILKS CLASSES
 

  • Please wear form fitting leggings that go to the calf or to the ankle and wear a form fitting shirt that covers the midriff. Fabric burn (think rug burn!) is no joke :)
     

  • No zippers, studs, or anything that can snag the aerial fabric. No jewelry is allowed. This can cause holes in the fabrics.
