Class Descriptions

  • Pole Tricks

Pole Tricks classes use a pole to build strength, enhance grace, and to encourage sensual movement. Pole classes teach various spins, dance movement, floorwork and conditioning exercises to strengthen and tone. In the process, you will improve body awareness and coordination, as well as increase strength and flexibility.

  • Pole Heels Choreo and Exotic Flow

Heels Choreo is a choreography class that focuses on a series of movements set to a specific song.

Exotic Flow will teach a series of movements and then let you play with different pieces or music or tempos to explore your own pace and style.

  • Silks

Aerial silks, also known as tissu or fabric, is a challenging and beautiful art of dance in the air using the silks to wrap the body and flow with movement. You will work on various poses, climbing techniques, and working towards aerial inversions with longer sequences and combinations.

  • Hoop

Aerial hoop, also known as lyra, is an aerial art using a circular apparatus suspended from the ceiling for a stunning blend of poses, acrobatics, and aerial dance.

  • Hammock

The Aerial Hammock is a soft fabric looped from the ceiling to support you in the air as you master aerial techniques and beautiful poses. Hammock uses the same fabric suspended from the ceiling as Silks but the bottom of the fabric is looped like a "hammock" and is used create a beautiful, spinning and flowing aerial art-form.

  • Barre

Barre fitness is a hybrid workout class - combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Most classes incorporate a ballet barre and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements.

  • Flexibility

Flexibility is the range of motion in a joint or group of joints or the ability to move joints effectively through a complete range of motion. These classes are a perfect compliment to any of our pole, aerial, or fitness/dance classes.

  • Burlesque

Burlesque is a style of dance that incorporate sexy cabaret dance and mixes it with modern movement and sassy sensuality. Whether you're looking for more excitement for your femme fatale or just a stimulating new workout experience, Embody Burlesque offers the perfect alternative to any cardio class!

FAQs

  • Are there age restrictions? Can people of any gender attend classes?

We welcome students who are 18 years and older. How ever you identify, you are welcome to take classes at Embody.

  • Do I have to register online or can I just show up?

We recommend reserving a spot in class using our online schedule as many classes book out in advance. Walk-ins will be able to take class on a first come, first served basis.

  • What level class should I register for if I am a beginner?

If you are new pole, silks, hoop, or hammock, we recommend starting with an Intro or Beginner level class.

Our class levels are Intro, Beginner (Level 1+), Intermediate (Level 2+), or Advanced (Level 3+) and will be listed next to the class title on the schedule if it is relevant to the class.

Barre, flexibility, twerk, and burlesque classes are open to anyone of any level!

  • What do I wear and bring to POLE class?

A yoga mat for warm up

Shorts or bikini bottoms allow bare legs, which will help you grip the pole. Heels and kneepads are encouraged for any of the Sexy Pole Flow or Floorwork classes.

  • What do I wear and bring to AERIAL class?

A yoga mat for warm up

We recommend leggings that cover the knees and a form fitting top covering the midriff. This prevents fabric burn or the hoop rubbing on your skin.

Please remove ALL jewelry prior to class and stay away from clothing with zippers, studs, or buttons that can snag the aerial fabric.

  • What do I wear and bring to FITNESS class?

A yoga mat for warm up

Comfortable workout wear is recommended. Non-skid socks are optional for barre classes.
